First Appointment Arrangements

Physician Referral
After the patient's physician has confirmed the cancer diagnosis, he or she may refer the patient to our center. After presenting the treatment option to the patient our physician will contact the patient's physician to discuss the treatment plan and the treament options available. The primary care physician and the referring physician will be informed of the patient's progress throughout the treatment course.
What to bring

For the first visit, the patient should bring:

-Insurance cards showing policy numbers

-Authorization for medical care from their PCP or insurance company

-Photo I.D.

-Social Security cards

-Current list of all prescription medications being taken; please stop by the radiology department and bring your CT scans, MRI, X-ray, Mamogram etc.

-Medical records, laboratories and X-ray reports that are pertinent to the patients current prognosis.

 

Registration
At the time of the first appointment, a medical assistant will register the patient
Physician's Interview and Consulation
One of our physicians will interview and examine the patient after he/she goes over the primary physician's referral note and history of the present illness. He/she will discuss the role, indications, techniques and side effects of radiotherapy with the patient. The patient's next appointment will be the simulation process.
